ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) – For the first time, ASL interpreters will be on hand for the Lilac Festival this year.

Organizers said the interpreters will be available for the opening ceremony on May 12 and for all headlining music performances throughout the festival.

“It was important to us that we make sure that everyone in our community can enjoy all that the Lilac Festival has to offer,” said Jeff Springut, producer of the Lilac Festival. “We’ve hired the best local music ASL interpreters in town to be up on stage with our performers to help make this year’s shows the best yet.”

The interpreters include Terri Reisinger and Kim Billyard, both of whom are Rochester natives.
